Now McCain/Palin are winging their way to the prospective disaster zone. I'm not gonna call that "pandering" cuz if Obama did it, I'd probably applaud the effort.

This is off topic, but your profile makes you sound more like a libertarian than a liberal. Just out of curiosity, what do you think of libertarians such as Bob Barr and Ron Paul.
What you're missing is that if Obama and Biden were on their way to the Gulf Coast, there would universal tsking about the burden their camp followers, security &c. are putting on the strained rescources of the area.
But McCain is all Mavericky.
Tough call on whether McCain is pandering or just doing the right the thing by toning down the Republican Convention in deference to Gustav.
Any chance he's actually learned from his cake mistake?
@bryan - Call me a Libertarian Liberal I guess. I am fiscally conservative but do feel that Govt has an impt role in ensuring safety and justice.
@bryanperson - Of course he's learned from his "cake mistake" - he's learned to pretend to care about poor folks, in an election year. You know, "poor folks" - the ones who make less than $5M a year?
